'Variety' is a word that can be used with some confidence when talking about food and wine in Moraira. There are huge ranges of seafood, meats, cured hams, fresh fruit, wines, and of course restaurants. Moraira also caters for a wide variety of budgets, from simple 'tapas' and pizzas to Michelin star restaurants.
There are a lot of talented chefs in the area, producing traditional Valencian dishes as well more modern Spanish food.
Naturally the seafood in Moraira is rather special. The local fisherman's catch is brought ashore each morning, which guarantees the freshness of a wonderful selection, such as monkfish, seabass, sole, lobster, squid, mussels, langoustines, sardines and many more.
As well as the seafood, produce grown in fields just inland provide fresh citrus fruit and vegetables, brought up on a diet of sun, sun and more sun. There's also some wonderful meats available, including lamb, pork, beef and the superb Spanish chorizo and jamón serrano (like parma ham, only better!)
There's no shortage of quality wines either and visits to the bodegas (wineries) just a few miles inland are highly recommended. The staff fully encourage you to sample the local produce, like the reasonably priced Monsatrell reds and famous Moscatel dessert wines.
