With such a great climate encouraging you to spend time outdoors it is not surprising that there are a great number of sports on offer.

For tennis we would recommend the 'Swiss Hotel' just a 5 min walk away from the villa. As a single court it is wonderfully private, just be sure to book in advance. Alternatively there is the tennis club called 'Sol Park' on the Moraira-Teulada road.

The beach 'El Portet' is sheltered by the Cap d'Or headland and usually has some very calm waters, it is therefore highly recommended for those looking for a longer swim away from the shoreline.

On the playa l'Ampolla there is a beach volleyball court and an area set aside for beach football. Behind the beach, just beyond the main road is a municipal sports area with basketball and handball courts, and a 5-a-side football pitch.

There is also a municipal sports centre in Teulada, with facilities that include a swimming pool, basketball, handball, tennis and badminton courts, and a 5-a-side footaball pitch.

Moraira's warm and calm Meditteranean waters also usually offer superb visibility, making it a great place to learn to suba dive, we'd personally recommend is the English run Mermaid Diving centre on the Moraira-Calpe road. Your first dives will be in a swimming pool, before progressing into the open waters around Moraira. For the more experinced there are cave and wreck dives.

Spain is home to Miguel Indurain, Roberto Heras and of course the 'Vuelta', one of the biggest races on the global cycling calender. This country loves its road cycling, and with such varied terrain this region has something to test and entertain all levels of enthusiasts. With the mountains inland and stunning costal scenery to the east, two wheels are just about the perfect way to explore the countryside.

If two wheels aren't for you, try your hand at horse riding at the 'La Rancho' horse riding centre, which is to be found on the Teulda-Benimarco road, 2km from Teulada.

The area is popular for windsurfing during the spring and autumn months when there is more of an off shore breeze, recommnded for easy parking access is the Platgetes beach.

For the adrenalin seekers who fancy some speed, the La Font Santa go-kart track on the Moraira-Teulada road is one of the quickest and best in Europe. Some karts reach up to between 70 and 90mph.

In additional to all the other sports mentioned here, it's possible to enrol in one of the many adventure courses run by 'marco polo expeditions' in Calpe, such as rock climbing, canoeing, catamaran sailing, and mountain biking.

For the experienced rock climbers it's even possible to attempt the climb to the summit of the Peñon d'Ifach (Rock of Calpe) - surrounded by the sea on three sides it really is spectacular.
